RHODE ISLAND MONTHLY
Cozy Up with These 8 Local Book Nooks
FEBRUARY 2026
Digs Design Company is featured in Rhode Island Monthly in an article highlighting a vibrant sitting room designed by Jocelyn Chiappone. The project reflects Digs Design Co’s signature “Digs Mix,” where custom architectural details, layered pattern, and confident color choices come together to create interiors that feel both expressive and effortlessly livable.
At the center of the space is a custom built-in bookcase designed by Chiappone, featuring striking geometric shelving with warm walnut back panels and brass sconces that add depth and glow. The shelving becomes both an architectural focal point and a place to display books and collected objects that introduce a lively spectrum of color throughout the room. Once a kitchen, the space has been thoughtfully reimagined as a cozy sitting area that celebrates pattern and texture. A statement armchair upholstered in a John Robshaw print weaves together teal, gold, and soft green tones, bringing movement and energy to the seating area while anchoring the palette.
On the patterned inlay coffee table, a sculptural teal vase filled with white blossoms echoes the hues found in the chair’s fabric, subtly tying the room together. Throughout the space, Chiappone layers what feels like a rainbow of color, from vibrant book spines to decorative accents, yet every element is carefully chosen so the colors complement rather than compete. The result is a room that feels playful, layered, and harmonious, demonstrating Digs Design Co’s ability to balance bold pattern, thoughtful color repetition, and custom design details to create spaces that are both visually dynamic and warmly inviting.
