Featured in a dedicated chapter in Patrick Ahearn’s book, “Driven” Cape Classics, the award-winning Allen Harbor property in Harwich Port, Massachusetts, showcases a thoughtful approach to coastal design, balancing classic Cape Cod architecture with the demands of a challenging waterfront site. Jocelyn Chiappone of Digs Design Company contributed her interior design expertise to the residence, helping shape a home that feels timeless, refined, and deeply connected to its surroundings.
The chapter in this beautiful new book explores how the home’s cedar shingles, gambrel roofline, and harbor-facing terrace establish a strong sense of place, while carefully considered interior details bring warmth and character to the living spaces. Custom built-ins, spar-varnished beadboard, brick flooring, and refined crown molding complement the home’s traditional architectural language. A dedicated carriage house wing, designed for fishing and boating equipment as well as gathering, further reflects the property’s distinctive coastal lifestyle.
The project’s success lies in its thoughtful integration of architecture and interior design. By contributing to a residence that balances enduring New England character with modern waterfront living, Chiappone’s work reflects Digs Design Company’s approach to creating sophisticated, livable interiors that feel authentic to their setting.
