CAPE COD HOME
Rhapsody in Blue
early summer 2024
In the Cape Cod Home article “Rhapsody in Blue,” Jocelyn Chiappone, founder of Digs Design Company, showcases her expertise in creating timeless, elegant spaces with a blend of traditional and contemporary design elements. Collaborating with architect Patrick Ahearn, FAIA, Chiappone designed a Martha’s Vineyard retreat that perfectly balanced the homeowners' desire for a home that both reflected the area’s historic charm and met the demands of modern living.
Chiappone recalls her instant connection with the homeowners: “These were great clients, and the wife and I immediately hit it off. In fact, when she complimented the dress I was wearing and said she thought she had the same one, I knew it would be a great match!” This rapport allowed for seamless collaboration, ensuring the design would reflect the client’s personal style.
The living room features a cozy seating arrangement, with white upholstery accented by deep blue patterns on throw pillows, creating an inviting atmosphere. A Lucite coffee table and geometric-patterned upholstered cubes add modern flair while maintaining functionality.
Chiappone’s use of lighting is key in differentiating spaces within the open-concept design. “One of the effective ways Chiappone achieves independence for each of the spaces is with her deft choice in lighting,” the article notes. This careful selection highlights distinct areas of the living, dining, and kitchen zones.
This project exemplifies Digs Design Company’s ability to integrate modern elements with classic design, resulting in a home that both honors history and supports a modern lifestyle.
