A sneak peek of a seaside escape in the upcoming issue of Cape & Islands Design Guide

JANUARY 2024

In a recent feature by Boston Home, interior designer Jocelyn Chiappone, founder of Digs Design Company, showcases her expertise in transforming a dated kitchen into a vibrant, functional space. Collaborating with New England Design Works and Lars Olson Fine Home Building, Chiappone embraced the homeowner's affinity for color, particularly green, to craft a lively and modern kitchen. She found it refreshing to design in this vibrant color rather than the standard blue and white typically associated with homes near the sea.

The design features cabinets painted in Farrow & Ball's "Stony Ground," offering a soft beige finish that contrasts elegantly with a black La Cornue range. The island, also black, is fitted with drawers to maximize storage. Unlacquered brass hardware and fixtures evoke a timeworn elegance while referencing Marion's nautical heritage. The room's windows are painted black to create cohesion and to nod to contemporary styling and the home's longevity.

Chiappone's thoughtful integration of bold colors and patterns, balanced by neutral elements, reflects her signature style and dedication to personalized, timeless design. This project exemplifies her ability to transform spaces by blending classic elements with contemporary flair, resulting in a kitchen that is both functional and visually captivating.
